Re: Lions' receivers

Yeah, Claypool has NFL level talent, but from where I sit it appears he does not have pro football maturity. I don't think his ego would allow him to play in the CFL. Claypool comes across to me as being similar to Duron Carter. Long on talent but lacking the sort of maturity needed to be a pro. Wh...

Re: Rourke now a NE Patriot

Brissett is being brought in as the bridge guy to whomever they're taking at 3. Rourke is done there.

You can waste your years sitting in press boxes, but it's probably time for him to read the room and come home to lead the Tiger Cats to their destiny.

Re: Lions' receivers

The design of the offense is keyed around Cottoy and he is extremely valuable, regardless of the yardage numbers. This offense needs to replace Lucky in order to be effective. If you don't have a guy who can burn down the field running a nine route that defenses have to respect you're in trouble. Ac...

Hopefully Nathan Rourke doesn't return to the CFL anytime soon and end up having to play for Hamilton.

Re: Thoughts on getting Stanback?

As someone who was underwhelmed by Mizzell but doesn't necessarily believe in spending a great deal of money on the RB position, this signing is the best of both worlds to me, with the inherent confidence the QB has in Stanback as a bonus. Though I do share the requisite skepticism that the offense ...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

I don’t want to spend another seven pages on this, because my stance on this is pretty clear after 20 years here. You aren’t getting NFL playing time, you aren’t making NFL money unless you are extraordinarily (he isn’t ) and sitting around in a press box not playing does no favors for your career ...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Farhan Lalji says he’s confirmed that Mathieu Betts will sign a futures contract with the Detroit Lions. Ooof. Some guys just never learn. Everything to gain, nothing to lose. I understand odds are not tilted in his favour but if he doesn't make their PS he'll have 9 CFL teams tripping over themsel...

Re: Should CFL teams retire numbers of stars?

#6. While it's always very sad and tragic when somebody passes away, there are other ways to give tribute than to retire their number. Perhaps a small memorial inside the stadium can suffice as a number retirement banner should be reserved for his on-field performance and dedication to his team and...

Re: Should CFL teams retire numbers of stars?

This is a great great great topic. And this post is a bit of a repeat but I hope it brings some more things into focus. Here are seven questions that are asked in the evaluation process of whether or not to retire a number: 1) Are they a Hall of Famer? 2) Did they help a team win a championship? 3) ...

Re: Should CFL teams retire numbers of stars?

Cromartie, which #9 are you talking about, Roy Dewalt or Damon Allen? I favour Dewalt as I was never all that big of an Allen fan. IMO, Allen's claim to fame was his super long career which enabled him to amass impressive career stats. But in reality, for most of his career there were other QBs who...

Re: Should CFL teams retire numbers of stars?

Here's my opinion. No Lion should ever wear #9 again. Or #5. I don't think there's an argument against that. These are Hall of Fame players wearing the number. There is a transcendent level of performance over a sustained number of years that a player can provide that warrants the retirement of that...

Re: Lions release Rhymes

Cottoy has a very unique role in this offense, so let's set him aside.

You're going to need another lid lifter, so you aren't bringing back Lucky either.

Beyond that, I do agree that a lot of the free agent signings mean turnover. Which, honestly, is fine.

Re: CFL Expansion

There is a zero percent chance Saskatoon could support a stand alone CFL team. QC would be great for the league, and great for Montreal if they could overcome the objections from Laval. The Montreal rivalry potential is outstanding. I'm still a believer in a coast to coast league, which to me means ...

Re: Rourke now a NE Patriot

Only 3 games remaining and not much oppourtunity to learn the Offense of a new team. This looks like a "let's see what we got for next year" move by the Patriots and a screw up by the Jags, especially if Lawrence gets ruled out due to concussion for the next game. Hindsight is always 20/2...
