Re: Throwback Thursday

Okay, how about this then? Tom Brown was the greatest linebacker to wear the best uniform the Leos have ever sported? How can you argue with that gorgeous burnt orange and black combination? The above uniform was their home uni in those days, but home or away they looked classy, finished off ...

Re: Throwback Thursday

I never saw him play, but in 1961 the Leos signed Tom Brown, an All-American Outland Trophy winner (top lineman in US college football). He was one of the club's biggest signings to that point. Tom was a formidable force for us at linebacker and played until 1967. He was elected to the CFL Hall of F...

Re: 2017 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions

the solomon elimimian radio ad still makes me cringe every time i hear it. can't believe they're still running them. so unbelievably awkward, and just putridly bad and bizarre and wrongheaded. "is he a hipster with a man bun, about to get his achilles blown out? the next game will tell!!" i mean, W...

Re: Lions ownership discussion thread

More from TSN's David Naylor on how the team won't be sold anytime soon. I find the current "search" for a new club president comical. Dennis Skulsky originally announced in February 2016 he was resigning but stayed on when Braley fell ill. I feel your pain, Sammy. Braley was on CKWX radio this mor...

Re: Lions ownership discussion thread

Good grief, what a mess. If Braley truly cared for this team and its fan base, then he would find a way to get this franchise into local hands where new owners could fix all the things he is either oblivious to, in denial about, or blindly loyal to. Now it's litigation and "clear assets" that's prev...

Re: Bombers 26 - Lions 20, Post-Game Stats and Comments

Mark Washington. This is a name that evokes strong feelings. He has taken a lot of heat on this board for the weak pass rush, having our linebackers hang way back in coverage too often, poorly timed blitzes, and too much confusion in the secondary. But as I've suspected and Blitz notes above, many o...

Re: Lions ownership discussion thread

The latest on the ownership odyssey. 3 things worth noting: 1) Has raised the interest (concern?) of Ambrosie and league 2) 3 candidates in the running 3) Interest from the Aquilini group has now waned (likely due to Braley's dithering) http://theprovince.com/sports/football/cfl/bc-lions/ed-willes-o...

Re: 2017 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions

While I appreciate the Lions' front office working all angles to fill seats for the remaining two home games, this promo illustrates how out of touch they are with the market place. Maybe they're concerned that dropping the price of end zone seats too much could upset their other partner in 7-11 (th...

Re: Andrew Harris Chases History

I've read the same thing in the media TheLionKing but to me, Alex Singleton deserves Top Canadian, hands-down. IMO, Harris is having an exceptional season but benefits from a very progressive LaPolice offensive scheme and a strong offensive line. He sees the ball a lot as he's the check-down option ...

Re: RedBlacks 30 - Lions 25, Post-Game Stats and Comments

Agree DanoT the coaching this season has been dated conservative and the Lions staffed just plain being out coached week in week out by HC/Cordinaters with less time on the job...ie:Claybrooks/June Jones/Rick Campbell/Maas And here is the rub. I actually thought Khari Jones was calling a good game ...

Re: Chris Williams

I'll echo what Blitz noted in another post. The decision to not sign Jovan (whose salary was a bit high, yet I am sure both sides could have worked on a more reasonable number) was costly. That money went to Chris Williams, coming off extensive knee surgery who both hasn't been used properly and has...

Re: Chris Williams

Very frustrating. I know how good he can be. I just don't think we ever figured out a way to use him properly. I think he's still battling back from his injury, but the dropped pass is probably a function of trying to do too much and the pressure he's putting on himself. Hope it's not a "one and don...

2-7 in our last 9 games guys. I said earlier that we may be lucky to win another game if we don't beat Ottawa due to the team coming unglued, and it's a real possibility.

How many coaches would survive this with a team with this much talent?

Re: Lions Feeling the Pressure/Wally May Coach Another Season

But didn't Lapo do that cringe-worthy cornball thing of bringing in a giant mirror into the locker room when he was in Winnipeg and had all his players to look into it?

I hope he's learned a bit about coaching professional men since then.

Re: Is Wally Staying around in 2018?

I hate to sound like a supreme pessimist, but if we lose to Ottawa, I think we're going to struggle to win another game, save for maybe the last one where Toronto will be resting some starters for the playoffs. I just think that if we go 6-8 and then walk into a hornet's nest at IGF (where Bombers w...
