Re: 2017 CFL Draft - What Players Will Our Leos Choose

I was a little surprised that we took Vanderhoot at #3 overall too, Blitz. However, I have to think that Geroy, who would extensively scouted and attended the combine, saw something in him that gave him the edge over Behar. It obviously wasn't speed. I will be interested to follow this receiver draf...

Re: Lions Draft Party

Can you provide any details? What made it an "awesome event?"

I saw a pic posted to Twitter and it looked like a really good turnout.

Re: 2017 CFL Draft - What Players Will Our Leos Choose

My "Was it just me or?" moment came when the TSN panel said the usual complimentary things for a #3 pick in Vanderhoot, but then suddenly were gushing when the Esks took Behar at #5. Oh well, only time will tell. It was like the year there was Anthony Parker, Nate Coehoorn, and Marco Iannu...

Re: 2017 CFL Draft - What Players Will Our Leos Choose

Overall, this could be a very good draft for BC if we can get everyone signed. Many of our needs addressed (receiver, interior DL, a potential guard/tackle.....we were even able to draft LB Jordan Herdman at #60 overall. I know he had disappointing Pro and Combine days, but he's a tackling machine. ...

Re: Condolences to Geroy and Family

Tracy would have turned 40 today. Unimaginably sad. While Geroy is rumoured to be at the Surrey compound tomorrow working on the draft, I really hope he takes as much time off as he needs in order to heal. I can only imagine having to deal with all of those well-meaning Lions fans in the war room. ...

Shawn Gore officially retires

It became official this morning. Shawn Gore is calling it a day. A solid all-time Leo with 20 TDs and close to 4K yards through 7 seasons of service. http://www.bclions.com/2017/05/04/shawn-gore-announces-retirement-bc-lions/ I recall the play last year when he got dumped on the sideline that caused...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Li

Sorry guys, I can't recall where I heard or read that BMac was leaving TSN1040 in a buy-out. It may have been a Puget Sound Radio blog but I don't see anything. Doubtful that we'll see any programming shake-ups until after the Stanley Cup Playoffs (although a lot of changes tend to happen in the fir...

Re: Condolences to Geroy and Family

Devastating news. My heartfelt condolences go out to Geroy and his family. Not appropriate to speculate, but Geroy played such a big part in the OTAs late last week (instructing the receivers where to position themselves during drills and scrimmage) so I would assume this was an unexpected passing. ...

Re: Mini-Camp Breakdown

As previously mentioned, Douglas McNeil, a receiver who joined us late last year and was on the PR looked quite impressive in the 1 on 1s. Here is a link to footage from the OTAs. Can't put a ton of stock into these (no press man coverage for example), but cuts and catches look pretty good. D...

Re: Lions Receive Bylaw Fine

Better explanation here: Rick Dhaliwal‏ @DhaliwalSports 1h1 hour ago (1) If he did not sign in the NFL, the #BCLions had a signed contract to bring Adam Bighill back on the roster on an assigned date. (2) This signing did not make Bighill a true free agent in the CFL's eyes. #BCLions . 1 reply 0 ret...

Re: Lions Receive Bylaw Fine

Thanks for posting that Bosco. Farhan offers some insight about it here. Nothing egregious IMO. No cap violation or anything. Farhan Lalji‏Verified account @FarhanLaljiTSN 1h1 hour ago #BCLions fined $2500 for verbally agreeing to give @Bighill44 a window to explore #NFL opportunities (& putting...

Re: Mini-Camp Breakdown

Managed to make it out to the OTA today. Weather conditions: partly to mostly cloudy with temps about 12 degrees, with the sun making brief appearances Media present: Ed Willes, Farhan Lalji, Lowell Ullrich, Scott Rintoul, Giulio Caravatta (and a guy with a notepad and pen whom I didn't recognize) S...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Li

What do you think they are talking about on TSN 990 Montreal this week? Alouettes mini-camp or Habs post mortem? Ditto for the Senators playoff run on the Ottawa station. And both those stations are the rightsholders for those CFL teams. What part of "I don't expect Lions coverage to mirror th...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Li

I respectfully disagree Matt. No one on here would reasonably expect Lions coverage to mirror that of the Canucks, or really, even come close. Hockey is Canadian sports talk radio's security blanket. Station execs and hosts know (as you're well aware) that they can bring up hockey discussion 12 mont...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Li

Rogers have announced today they have purchased CISL 650 and turning it into an all-sports station. So that's where the Canucks have landed and Bell's competition has arrived. What happens to the Lions broadcasts rights now? What on air personalities jump over to 650? Interesting times. Being a Rog...
