Re: Lions name Jarious Jackson offensive coordinator and QB coach

If Jarious helped resurrect Kevin Glenn last year, then he deserves a place in the HOF under the builder's category. Irrespective of the West Final and maybe a couple of games down the stretch, I thought he was, for the most part, excellent. Moreover, the Riders had two disparate quarterbacks...

Re: Lions name Jarious Jackson offensive coordinator and QB coach

Very happy with this move. I was kind of concerned when Jarious turned us down last time that he was going to be a Chris Jones lifer. One thing I didn't realize is that his wife and kids live here too, so this is coming home in more ways than one for Jarious. The pieces are coming together. D...

Re: Washington 2nd frontrunner for Als Head Coaching Gig

I don't think Ed Hervey would be willing to give one candidate the inside track to replacing Wally this early in his tenure. He might like Washington as an HC but I think he will go through some form of "due process" to accumulate more candidates. I also don't think he would suggest to Washington h...

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

Nice interview with Ed this morning on Sportsnet 650 HERE. . Here are the highlights: * Upgrading O and D lines off-season priority. Build team from inside out with cap considerations. * Doesn’t believe in making promises (to coordinators). Come in do job you’re hired to do and let evaluation take i...

Washington as HC with Condell as OC would be the Als best scenario, imo.
Don't you mean the Lions' best scenario?

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

I really don't think Brent is interested in coaching. Not exactly certain what he's doing now, but he was working in finance in some capacity - probably making good coin. He did move to Calgary for a spell, but is back here in Vancouver as far as I know. Highly doubt he'd be interested in giving up ...

Re: Lions trade Chris Williams to Montreal for Gabe Knapton

Yea, what did Cartmell mean by homecoming? He lost me on that one.
For Knapton, the move to BC will be a homecoming of sorts as the University of Wyoming grad and collegiate standout joins the Lions.

Re: Lions trade Chris Williams to Montreal for Gabe Knapton

Well, considering Williams was essentially a spare part, this is a good deal. I don't think Chris Williams was properly utilized by Khari, but Ed prefers the bigger bodied-type receivers anyway. I am not worried about the wideout position with the braintrust we have in the organization. Gabe Knapton...

Re: Washington 2nd frontrunner for Als Head Coaching Gig

My bet is that Condell gets the job over Washington and Mark is back here as DC. Unless a dark horse candidate emerges. I agree with this. While I believe an African-American GM may lean toward an eminently qualified African-American to become their head coach (and I believe Mark Washington is inde...

Yeah!!!! :yahoo:

Didn't think it would happen this fast. Hard to imagine him in any other team colours. He is the leader of this club.

QB James Franklin Traded to Argos

Esks ship James Franklin to the Argos for OL Mason Woods, the 6'9" tackle from Maple Ridge, BC and a 3rd rounder. While I was hoping we could acquire Franklin, at least he's out of our division. This deal works out a whole lot better for Edmonton than the deal we pulled off for Mike Reilly. They onl...

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

Ed Hervey has hired Torey Hunter as Director of Player Personnel and Development. Neil McEvoy, Geroy Simon, and Ryan Rigmaiden also retain their current positions. Geroy now also adds CFL Draft Coordinator to his portfolio. This is a huge move. We've taken a guy who has all of those great contacts ...

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

There's no way Franklin is going to sign a long term CFL deal. At least, not until he assesses his NFL value. Now, there is a big difference between shopping one's wares down south and making a roster, I know. Especially for someone who hasn't even been a starter up here. But anyone who has seen thi...

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

I have no doubt that Travis could step into the OC role. He's already been our de facto quarterbacks coach. Very cerebral guy with a long rehab ahead. Perhaps he could be coaxed into OC job and sign James Franklin to a one-year contract before he tries the NFL, so you'd have JJ and Franklin challeng...
