Re: 2017 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions

Interesting input James, thanks. I don't think they're going to open the upper deck anytime soon though, so it looks like you can save your dough. As a casual fan, I am interested in what you think the right ticket pricing structure should be. Tom Mayenknecht, who's a well respected sports bu...

The rich get richer - Esks aquire Chick

Sure, his best days are behind him at 34, but an already fearsome pass rush just got stronger as the Eskimos acquire John Chick from Hamilton in what amounts to an exchange of 2018 draft picks (Hamilton gets Edmonton's 2nd round pick, and send them their 5th round pick). Details here. DH

Re: CFL Games of Week 10, August 24 - 26

How do we rank the teams? #1 Calgary. Ahead on points for. Ahead on points against. Ahead of Edmonton. #2 Edmonton. Mike Reilly. Good receivers. Pretty good defence. #3 Winnipeg. Great coach IMO. Very good QB. Helluva running back. #4 BC. Good quarterbacks, receivers, running back. Solly. Athletic ...

Re: Lions vs. Stamps Aug. 18, 2017

You know what I am disappointed to see, Purolator tackle hunger #'s. Calgary: 74,117 Lbs BC: 11, 000 (odd) Lbs I know we have a high cost of living, but REALLY? Not to make excuses, but in Calgary most people drive to the games and tailgate pre-game which is more condusive to the tackle hunger prog...

Re: Calgary 21 - BC 17, Post-game Stats and Comments

A little birdie told me that practice on Wednesday consisted of approx 80% special teams work - hardly any offense on a short week - with Wally running the special teams show. Chris Williams was given some punt return reps but was not part of the main unit, and was not featured with Rainey...

Re: Calgary 21 - BC 17, Post-game Stats and Comments

Yes, I agree B.C.FAN. Even with under 21,000, the building was full of energy. While I won't say the noise was disruptive for the Calgary offense, it definitely was enough to pump up the defense and let the Stamps know it was a road game. I have to say though, Alex Singleton is an a$$ clown. Great b...

Re: Calgary 21 - BC 17, Post-game Stats and Comments

My gut tells me that if Travis was in there tonight, we take the W. Protection looked to be decent most of the night but JJ is way too indecisive out there. Missing Burnham and Moore is huge and I don't think his receivers got much separation most of the time but just doesn't seem like the old JJ (e...

Re: 2017 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions

Call it an exasperated plea, Ernie. I am growing frustrated at this point that nothing seems imminent and no one outside of a few Lionbackers and members of the local media seems to realize the peril the club is facing from maintaining the "status quo." I want to thank Mr. Braley for his dedicated 2...

Re: 2017 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions

Weather in our favour today. Decent, but not too sunny or hot. Not a beach day today.

Disadvantage is the Seahawks playing their preseason home opener tonight. Expect local football fans to want to tune in to part of that (or attend in person).

Re: 2017 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions

Looking at Ticketmaster and it looks like tomorrow night's crowd versus the Stampeders might be the smallest of the season so far. Wow, that's just sad. I hate to see what things are going to look like when Hamilton and Montreal come to town. You'd think Wall Of Fame inductees, the last $5 game for...

Re: Lions vs. Stamps Aug. 18, 2017

I agree with Giulio. I would rather insert a fresh, fast, healthy Maurice Morgan than an ailing Burnham, and Moore, neither of whom practiced. We're already hurting enough with Manny who's been slowed by injury.

Let the kid show what he can do.

Re: CFL Games of Week 9, August 17 - 19

Who's everyone cheering for in the Edmonton - Winnipeg game?

I don't like either team, but do we more-or-less just concede first to the Esks at this point and worry about staying tight with the Bombers? In other words, cheer for Edmonton....and I use that term very loosely?

...and here's hoping-and-praying that new regime you look forward to DanoT is not headed by either Mr. M. Washington or Mr. K. Jones. I know it's useless to worry about things beyond your control.... but, I worry. Silly me. Here's the thing though Ernie. It's the $64,000 question. Are Jones and Was...

Re: Riders 41 - Lions 8, Post-Game Stats and Comments

I don't expect my team to win every game, although that would be nice. I just expect that when they do lose, the games will be close, or reasonably so. To me, there have been too many "no show" efforts in the last little while, which is highly detrimental when trying to rebuild the fan base. Since 2...

Re: Riders 41 - Lions 8, Post-Game Stats and Comments

We were unprepared. Others will not want to hear it, but IMO that is on the coaches. It was like the players had tuned them out. I disagree. These are pro athletes. If they need coaches to get up for a game then they should not be pro athletes. If we had the wrong game plan and were being exposed i...
