Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

The 2018 season is all about Wally and his desire to retire as Head Coach following a successful season. There is no long term plan. Wally remains VP and with no President, Buono remains 'top dog' and keeps the big office. Toppy Vann hit the nail on the head that Hervey was mostly hired to bring in ...

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

As for why would Wally want to accept the HC job Blitz perhaps there are similarities to Pat Quinn. Hambone Sorry and respectfully Hambone but I have a hard time seeing it as Buono hires Hervey who then asks Buono to coach this season. Of course, that would also have meant that if Hervey would have...

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

You know, for someone who is supposed to be a catch, he seems to have been a loose ends for awhile. I really don't know how good he is but you might think that if he has that much of a cachet around the league, he would have been snapped up far more quickly. I mean who knows. He might be a better v...

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

Wally keeps the big office and remains VP. Enough said as to who is really the boss in 2018. Wally wants to focus on coaching so he can retire, at least making the playoffs and hopefully much more. An important part of this is about Buono's legacy. But in Hervey, the Leos have one of the best young ...

Re: Grey Cup Thread

There were enough plays blown by the Stamps in the Grey Cup game to not pin all the blame on Jordan. His incredible 37 yard reception on the final Stamps drive also gave them the opportunity to either tie or win the game. I place more blame on Bo Levi than Jordan, who led the Stamps in receiving. Bo...

Re: Grey Cup Thread

I'm really looking forward to the Grey Cup game and hope its a good one. Calgary is the favorite and for a number of reasons. The Stamps beat the Argos twice this season and outscored them in the two contests by a 2-1 margin (62 points for Calgary and 31 points for Toronto over the two games). The S...

Re: Head Coach - Lions announce Jeff Tedford as HC

When a very experienced Head Coach and with a lot of knowledge regarding the CFL game announces, before the season begins, that he wants to go with a different offence using a tight end system, hires his own offensive coordinator, and recruits two big athletic tight ends for his system and........ t...

Re: Football Operations: GM, Head Coach, Coaching Staff?

Bouno deserves all the blame hes getting he runs everything and when it goes south throws players under the bus.... There are lots of valid criticisms of B.C.’s coaching this year. Coaching deficiencies, and the poor play of Jennings, were the reasons the Lions underachieved. I’ve never accused Wal...

Re: Football Operations: GM, Head Coach, Coaching Staff?

We should give Montreal a deal. Take all 3 (Washington, Bellefeuille, and Jones), and get a Dan Dorazio for free. . That sounds like a better deal than buy 3 razors and get one free. Now if only Kavis Reed will take it. How about we go for a take all three and get two more for free and throw in Rob...

Re: Playoff Thread - Conference Finals

I puled for Edmonton because I was pulling for Mike Reilly, a highly respected quarterback across the league. I was also pulling for Edmonton because I did not want to see Bo Levi win the game. However, from a coaching staff perspective, it was difficult not to cheer for Dickenson and Claybrooks whi...

Re: Playoff Thread - Conference Fina

Maas said after the game that he doesn’t regret his decision. At least he can spend the next 6 months thinking about it. Said he had confidence in his defence to force a 2 and out. If so, why did he gambled on 3rd down on at least occasions earlier. No confidence in his defence at that point. Poor ...

Re: Pending Lions free agents

I agree, Blitz- on most counts. I would also add Benson as a priority. Long snappers are really under appreciated and critical aspects of the team. Good ones are hard to find and rarely noticed... bad ones, well, you see them pretty fast. Benson is a very good long snapper and gets downfield in cov...

Re: Football Operations: GM, Head Coach, Coaching Staff?

What we need in the future is someone who can work better with the salary cap than we have in the past. One of the problems of the past has been that Buono has signed players, then finds himself over the cap and then is forced to go back to veteran players and ask them to take a salary cut. That has...

Re: Pending Lions free agents

Wally likes to get rid of vets that are getting older looking for more money, Wish he would do that with his assistants. ...and himself!! :) The player I would most hate to lose is Hunter Steward. He is a National who can play both left tackle and left guard. He is huge, athletic, and talented. He ...

Re: Pending Lions free agents

One player that I would like to see signed again is linebacker Dyshawn Davis. I thought he looked very good when given reps towards the end of the season. He can hit, he can tackle, and he is quick. We always have an extra International tackle on the roster and with Sol E. Awe, and Fenner, with Davi...
