Re: Calgary 21 - BC 17, Post-game Stats and Comments

It also highlighted the two biggest problem areas on our team: offensive line and defensive line. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry at this. Because 1) it's accurate and 2) it's how good football teams are built. Without question!!! Obviously Wally went into this season with a notion that he had...

Re: The rich get richer - Esks aquire Chick

Wally just signed Ricky Foley a couple of weeks ago and he is 35 years old. We didn't have to trade any draft choices for him.

But he is an older player, has been less productive than Chick in recent seasons, and we picked him up for depth.

Re: Calgary 21 - BC 17, Post-game Stats and Comments

Despite the loss, the guys played hard and with intensity. You have to give them that. The defence especially dug deep to keep the Stamps out of the end zone in the 1st half. If the intensity wasn't there tonight, i would have been worried about this team's prospects this year. Hmm, I would say mor...

Re: Calgary 21 - BC 17, Post-game Stats and Comments

Chris Rainey’s knee touched down just before the Calgary 25-yard line. It was a third down play, with the clock winding down and we needed to cross the 25-yard marker. Video review moved the football ahead but it was still short. Fans had either stood or sat on the edge of their seats for that final...

Re: Lions vs. Stamps Aug. 18, 2017

This is the type of game that a team like our Leos, coming off a huge loss and with a short week of practice, can play very well. However, our Buono lead Leos are 18-10 against the Stamps since 2008, when John Hufnagel became the Stamps GM/HC. We are also 0-4 against the Stamps in the playoffs durin...

Re: Riders 41 - Lions 8, Post-Game Stats and Comments

Leadership is about 'readiness' and 'motivation'. Its also about 'preparation' based upon the circumstances. There was no readiness, motivation, or preparation created for this contest. Buono said he was unhappy with his team the week prior. He was concerned about his players attitude going into th...

Re: Riders 41 - Lions 8, Post-Game Stats and Comments

The final score of Riders 41 and our B.C. Lions 8 was flattering to our Leos as we got our butts whupped in almost every aspect of this game from coaching, game planning, play calling, offensive and defensive line play, blocking, tackling, motivation, pride and the list goes on. W'e're all aware tha...

Re: New Rule Change effective immediately

I believe this was the best good news our Leos have received from CFL headquarters in a long time. The reduction of challenges means less opportunity for him to get challenges wrong and look foolish at times, for his 'system' of challenges (What system?- His coaches yell at him at times to challenge...

Re: Leos/Riders Round 2

A big question for me is why are the Riders going with 4 INTs on the O line instead of playing Guy or St. John, the 1st overall pick from last year? Are these guys that bad? If Guy isn't good enough to play or even dress for the Riders do we really want him on the Lions 44man roster? Its difficult ...

Re: Leos/Riders Round 2

I sure hope we can run the football effectively again against the Riders. We had over 200 yards rushing last game. That will be difficult to duplicate but we need to run the football. Its interesting that the two CFL teams that are rushing the football least (Regina, Hamilton) have struggling offenc...

Re: Leos/Riders Round 2

Injured lists. Jones really loads up. 16 injured, or so to speak. And there sit Dillon Guy and Jeremy Zver. He sure seems to like hunting and fishing through our roster. Anybody of interest to us on his lists? 2017-08-12_1308.png. Wally tried to sign an O line player from Bombers PR but no g...

Re: Leos/Riders Round 2

Interesting changes. Too bad Gaitor is hurt. Buddy Jackson did not have a good game in his first start. I'm happy to learn that Maxx Forde will get another start at tackle...he has played very well and better than Turner. Having an International defensive back (Macdonald) as a backup and dime back f...

Re: Leos/Riders Round 2

By the way, where did you get the stats from B.C. Fan? They provide the kind of information that really gives a bigger picture. For reasons that escape me, the league has always kept many of its most interesting stats well hidden. This year it's using a dropbox. Here's a link: https://www.dropbox.c...

Re: Leos/Riders Round 2

Forde's numbers are impressive, when one also considers he only has one start and his other games have been in a rotational role. It certainly provides substance that he should be starting over Bryant Turner. But if Luke is not able to play at a decent level, then it makes it difficult to go with Fo...

Re: Leos/Riders Round 2

Thanks for the excellent post Grid Iron Ernie. Quarterbacking has never been better in the CFL, overall. Quarterbacks are now trained in the passing game in college, mostly in spread style or pro style offences that have complex passing attacks. West Coast Joe wrote: I expect neither JJ10 nor Lulay ...
