Re: Lions at Argos Oct. 30, 2021
I sure hope the Lions make developing a national kicker again a priority. Hamilton is the only other club that doesn’t utilize a national for FG or punting but do burn one of their international spots with Joel Whitford. I guess our plan was to go duo international (Yamasaki/Ford) before it was qui...

Re: Lions at Bombers Oct. 23, 2021
The notion that you need a 4.3 or 4.4 burner receiver (like Whitehead) to complete deep passes is false IMO; Burnahm can get deep, so can Durant, so can Johnson. Run a smart route that has been set-up by other diverse plays to set-up the DBs and you don't require outright blazing speed (which Merv F...

Re: How to fix this mess?
Yep. Reilly is a smart, tough vet QB; but his arm is faded IMO and he is no longer much of a run threat that was a nice part of his game. Way over-paid. Rourke is a possible star future instead. Chungh has been a bust as a Lion; can find better interior O-Linemen every CFL draft IMO; way over-paid. ...

Re: Stamps at Lions Oct. 16, 2021
Rick Campbell is a predictable, same old, limited thinking, typical CFL re-tread coaching hire. Very poor hire IMO. Maybe the new owner has some football thoughts of his own or will bring in some people to advise him who aren't CFL sycophants. Campbell only knows same old offence of today's CFL: QB ...

Re: Blue Bombers at Lions Oct. 1, 2021
One last comment: I generally like Rick Campbell's approach as a coach, but wasn't a fan of putting a one-handed Whitehead back in the game. It seemed clear that he couldn't use his right hand to catch. It was time to give the backups a chance to get some game action. Scarfone got in the game to re...

Re: Leos surprises this year
Cioffi is an aggressive D player who could be a force at OLB; Sayles is neither an OLB or a CFL safety IMO; he could be used as an extra DB in packages; they could think of going to some 3 true LB look - with Konar (or big Hladik) alongside Lokombo & Williams, to help shore up the run D. Rhymes ...

Re: B.C. at Saskatchewan Aug. 6, 2021
Blowing one, easily makeable 30 some yard FG in a game by a rookie kicker = no big deal; blowing 2 plus a convert, and when there was a chance to get close in the game = a different story. And the kid's first FG of 40 some yards barely snuck in against the upright. Does not look like he has even clo...

Re: B.C. at Saskatchewan Aug. 6, 2021
Wow - what a bizarre game. Lions totally unprepared and flat out of the gate; the D was swiss cheese like for the 1st part of the game; and a rookie QB thrown to the wolves. Coaching ! Strange QB management there = WTF ? - hopefully Reilly did not damage his arm further. That Rourke kid has serious ...

Re: Training camp 2021
Interesting read from BC Fan about the potential starting defence: lots of inexperience and rookies - 3 on the D-Line; at MLB; maybe one in the secondary, plus has Sayles ever played safety in Canadian ball before ? ( a 5-9, 176 size safety ?) Hopefully they make up for it with lots of hustle and a...

Re: Training camp 2021
And we could be talking about an early season starting QB here because with Reilly still not practicing and only a dozen days until the season start, you have to wonder how long it will take a 36 y.o. player to heal from a throwing shoulder injury. Assuming that Reilly can't start, I predict that C...

Re: Predict the Lions' 2021 Opening Day Front Four
DE - JR Tavai the rest - 3 imports maybe including Casher ? Campbell's RedBlacks the past couple of seasons featured a revolving door sort of mostly new, younger import D-Linemen; Tavai was easily the best of the group IMO and the rest were often mediocre. A far cry from the RedBlacks GC win run whe...

Re: 2021 CFL draft
IMO - the Lions did pretty well with this draft. Addressed a big area of need (D-Line) with the 1st pick and got a guy with a decent Div I resume. Got the former #1 rated prospect (Jackson) as a later pick (futures gamble that he doesn't stick in the NFL) Hladik at #22 was a real steal IMO; guess th...

94 GC BC Defence
Watching the 94 GC game on YouTube. What a talented D that Ritchie put together for that season / GC game. 3 man front - Stewart, Chaytors, Petersen (was Doug starting due to injury to Scrivener?) - man-handled the big Stallions O-line for parts of the game; Petersen was so strong for an inexperienc...
