Re: Antolin and Chin cut

I'm glad someone brought up Adrian Clarke's name. Every time Casey Chin goes on the practice roster, it seems to be forgotten that he was beaten out by this Clarke fellow. In watching the special teams, I feel Clarke is around the ball quite a bit. However, I looked it up and he really has only one ...

Re: Nichols traded to Winnipeg for 7th round pick

I think a lot of the posters are missing the point of this trade. Nichols seems to get injured a lot. In that sense, he's the purrfect replacement for Willy, who was the purrfect replacement for Buck. Actually, Winnipeg could easily go ahead of the Lions this week, so forget I said anything.

Re: Thursday night being a tough sell. Not so in the bad old days. You leave your tie in your desk and go straight from work to meet some buds at the bar. Several pints later, you spill onto a bus out to old Empire, then spill a few more pints, some actually down your throat, before watching the gam...

The Kirk Penton article IS absolute nonsense!! It'll be Jacques. Didn't he see the other thread??

Chapdelaine leaves SFU for SK Head Coaching job?

There was an article this week concerning Jacques leaving SFU after one season when he committed to three. Apparently SFU wasn't impressed. My take on the article was that he was making a few excuses, but the radio guys seemed to think he simply chose to go to a program where there's more money invo...

Re: What most concerns you about our Leos this season?

I am concerned mainly about the make-up of the offensive line, but I am very hopeful that a TE (and a new position coach) will see us through. I can't see Andrew Harris and Travis Lulay avoiding reinjury, but good for them if they do. If they are reinjured, there are RB's galore out there. QB? The t...

Re: cuts

Concerning Casey Chin being cut, I think the competition was too much this year. He didn't take over Jason Aragki's special teams leader role. Likewise, he didn't beat out Bo Lokombo or Adrian Clarke. I'm retired and can listen to sports radio when they broadcast from training camp. Thought I heard ...

Re: BC vs. Calgary Game Day Thread

Like other posters, there were things I liked about the game, and things I disliked QB: Pretty sure Lulay won't make it, and my opinion is that John Beck throws too awkwardly to play in the CFL. I think Jennings will end up being the QB, and that may be a good thing from what he showed. RB: One post...

Re: Dick Thornton

I'm at an age now where a number of my boyhood heroes are passing on. Not sure I like it. I recall Dick Thornton very well. He was on one of the best football teams ever assembled in the CFL, and he was one of the best players on that team. People who follow football these days may not realize that ...

Re: Stampeders 33 - Lions 16 Post Mortem

Enjoyed the comments here. Usually do. I didn't call the Moj show after the game, but listened to a couple callers. I think they both said they were through buying season tickets. I didn't find they were unreasonable in what they were saying. To the contrary, the broadcast team angered me so much, I...

Re: Have some Leos played their last games?

I liked the heartless comment early on. Made in jest, but a good one. Me? I don't see any comments here that are out of line like in many forums or comment sections. BC Lion players would be crazy to read these things, but it'd be terrific if Wally Buono or Mike Benevides did. My knowledge of footba...

Re: Have some Leos played their last games?

I've wondered the same, but there is the difficulty of judging performance when playing a couple bad teams in a row. At least, I think there is. Myself? I've made up my mind. Khalif Mitchell: Had virtually no stats well into the season. We were told that wasn't indicative of how good his play was. I...

Re: TSN New Website is Crap!!!?? Is this just me? haha

I'VE FALLEN AND I CAN'T GET UP!! Actually, that should be, Hey, they've changed their website and I can't get around it. That's how I feel. Was using TSN to get scores, etc, because I never really liked the Sportsnet one. Any better ones I (a certified old man) should know about?

Re: Lions 26 - Bombers 9 -- Post Game Stats and Comments

On the issue of flucuating attendance, the Lions can count on my not renewing next year. The price has risen year after year and has not been matched by the entertainment value. Could be me, of course, but I was nearly asleep last night. Just simply not enough good plays on offence to merit sitting ...

Re: Canadian Receivers

Had to weigh in on this one as I have strong opinions on this. I noted Lowell Ullrich saying something to the effect that the switching of the CDN Poblah for Ernest Jackson was a failure and I (once again) was thoroughly ticked at the guy. I am not an LU fan whatsoever. There was no significant drop...
