Re: No love left for Willie Fleming among CFL fans?
In order to remember the playing days of Fleming or Parker you would have to be 65+ so that kinda limits things right there. Dano's right. As over 65 myself I actually (as a young football player in my teens) was introduced to Willie Fleming by my mom who was coordinating a fashion show in North Va...

Hervey just poached a player from Edmonton's PR...Jean-Simon Roy, a 2017 draft pick and offensive lineman. Looks like he played left tackle for Laval. https://3downnation.com/2019/06/11/lions-snatch-canadian-ol-jean-simon-roy-from-edmontons-practice-roster/ The Lions are going to become the team the...

Re: 2019 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions
Just a warning. The ticket transfer functionality that I thought work in a very slick manner last year seems to be dysfunctional this year. I transferred my preseason ticket to my buddy who tried to print it or forward it to his son. I think the option wound up being that they'd have to make arrang...

Re: No love left for Willie Fleming among CFL fans?
Never saw him play but my mom certainly left an indelible impression of Fleming upon my mind. He was very much her favorite player and she could be counted upon to get all riled up when Angelo Mosca's name was ever mentioned. To take a look at his stats and lifetime rushing average, you can't help b...

Re: Which departed/unsigned 2018 players will we miss the most?
So many to choose from..... Personally, I will miss JJ24 the most but not just for his contributions on the field. No, I will miss him because he was the man. Super nice guy, very entertaining, fun to watch, a contributor to the community, stand-up guy, I could go on. Essentially the kind of guy you...

Re: 2019 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions
Yea, I think they like to eff with the visiting teams by playing demeaning intro music. I seem to recall them playing Millie Small's 1965 hit, "My Boy Lollipop" when the Stamps came out of the tunnel in their red uniforms last night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSM9NpsyLd0 Mind...

Re: Lions cuts
I’m not aware of any way to bring in a player to practise with the team without putting him on the practice roster. The practice roster size is expanded this year from 10 to 12 players. The Lions currently have 11 on their practice roster. That is true in theory unless your name is Chris Jones. For...

Re: Lions cuts
Here is a CBA type situation re the roster. I do not have the interest level at this time to dig into the CBA. After final cutdowns and roster declaration, it seems in the past, during the season, teams have brought in individual players, here and there, for a supervised work out, as a tryout. Not ...

Re: Lions cuts
Doesn’t every professional sports league have examples of can’t miss prospects that wind up not living up to the hype? For a variety of reasons usually. Vaillancourt actually was a starter for a brief period and acquitted himself quite well until injuries interfered. In the case of Vandervoort, I of...

Re: Lions cuts
Some mild surprises in the bunch. - Keon Lyn had been taking first-team reps at safety before his terrible outing against Calgary Friday night. - LB Steffon Herd was taking regular reps as dimeback. - Marloshawn Franklin was one of the most prominent rookie DBs and had an INT against Calgary on Fri...

Re: Mike Sherman fired in Montreal
The content of Zukowsky’s tweets has me wondering if this came about because of the league and not necessarily Reed? He simply acted as the hatchet man?

Re: Stampeders @ Lions June 7, 2019 - Game Day Thread
Ed Wiles is still maintaining that the Lions will dress 2 QBs per game (as per his column today). However, in looking at the CFL site and it’s item re. the trimming of rosters this weekend, it categorically states that teams MUST dress 3 QBs. So do the Lion’s have any legitimate choice in the matter...

Kavis attempting to make himself indispensable to the new ownership?
Bizarre to say the least. I hope LaPointe’s group gets in there fast. At this juncture being patient with any transition seems detrimental to the long term survival of the team.

Re: Stampeders @ Lions June 7, 2019 - Game Day Thread
We were very pleasantly surprised how entertaining the game was; fingers crossed we see a lot of points scored this season. Or at least, an increase towards what CFL fans are accustomed to seeing. My takeaways.... The team should double-check what cleats they are wearing for the season opener, too m...
